The following notification comes from the principal of Lord Tweedsmuir. Dear Parent / Guardian, I am alerting you to two upsetting incidents that occurred after school yesterday. On separate occasions, two groups of our students were robbed of cell phones and a watch while walking home from school. One incident occurred in a trail near George Greenaway pool parking lot on 60th Avenue when three young men approached our students and threatened them with a can of mace or pepper spray. The three individuals were in their early 20’s and were driving a black SUV. A short while later, in a public laneway north of the school, near 64th avenue, another group of students were also robbed by three to four young men in their early 20’s. These individuals were driving a silver Honda Accord or Toyota Corolla. No student was physically harmed in either incident and police are investigating. The same two groups of suspects are also believed responsible for similar robberies in the area shortly before Christmas. All incidents occurred between 2:40pm and 3:00pm. I am sharing this information with students and parents so you are aware and can take particular precautions as needed in the neighborhood. As a reminder, here are some safety tips:
Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Allan Buggie Principal |
